hey all, not sure if anyone's still looking for a solution to this.

i am a web developer and this problem has irritated me for over a year - particularly with Google image search and Google+, thumbnails just won't load a lot of the time.

The solution to the problem was a setting on my routers firewall
Maximum incomplete TCP/UDP sessions number from same host:
This was defaulted at 10, I changed it to 50 and it works perfectly. I'm pretty sure most routers have a setting for this somewhere. My router is a Sitecom WL-322 - I use Firefox on my Macbook btw but it's got nothing to do with the hardware (unless you have a Mac firewall set up with this setting)

Help Mike,

I am sooo frustrated with my Mac, i think you are right with it being something with my router. I just updated to supposedly a way faster internet, so a new modem/router i was sent. Now my Mac is super slow, as i am typing now the spinner is still going in the address bar, and almost all of my images do not show. If i click on a link or picture to redirect me to another web site, it either says i am not connected to the internet or cant find the server. Seriously how can it not find facebooks server. I have called my provider and they tell me it is my comp, which i know it is not. I dont know how or where i would go to "clean up" my comp, or how to set my router. If you can i would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks
Krystian

could be a number of things.. your router should have an admin interface that you can reach via your web browser. Check the manual that came with it.

you should run a few traceroutes in terminal to see whether or not it's your connection directly to the router or something with your ISP. Paste a traceroute to facebook.com here; also run a ping to google.com via terminal and paste it here.

Hi Krystian

Your network looks fine.

Have you run Activity Monitor while you are browsing? Order the processes by % CPU and Real Mem to see if anything is running that is causing this. Are you on the latest OSX Lion and made sure that all your software is up to date?

Hi, I am not on Lion, i did order the update but i have the trackpad with the button on it, and i read that my word will not work if i download it, so i have been nervous to do so. Also i have run my activity monitor and safari just sucks the life out my cpu is running 50% or higher with safari. I started using firefox even tho i dont like it. And now it has started doing the same. And the high cpu usage is with nothing open except safari, i dont store things on my comp, basically web surfing a few bookmarks, nothing different. Just dont understand why it has gone from being fine with no prob to me wanting to throw it through a window. oh and i checked for software updates and all is updated. Any suggestions about whether or not you think i should download lion.

my comp is a macbook, vers 10.6.8
2.2 ghz processor
4 gb mem
dont know if that helps
still have 1.94 GB free

The solution to the problem was a setting on my routers firewall

This was defaulted at 10, I changed it to 50 and it works perfectly. I'm pretty sure most routers have a setting for this somewhere. My router is a Sitecom WL-322 - I use Firefox on my Macbook btw but it's got nothing to do with the hardware (unless you have a Mac firewall set up with this setting)

BLESS YOU FOR THIS POST!

I'm a newbie owner of a nice macbook pro and that problem had been bugging me from the Windows days. I was very disappointed to see Safari 5 struggle with some thumbnails too, but now that I corrected my router firewall setting, everything seems to load like a charm.
Thank you! Have a nice day!

Funny this thread was brought back from the dead. I had this problem for the first time yesterday. It was about 6 hours of brain frying madness. I was convinced it was java, Uninstalled browsers, pretty much did everything I could think of outside of re installing OS.

This may not matter to those in this thread, but what resolved it for me was using Open DNS in Airport Utility (router settings, not browser or mac) and flushing DNS cache... Restart, and its all good.

http://system.opendns.com/

I make no claim that this is what everyone needs, but it's super simple to try out. Google has a public DNS as well. Could be just the router re setting its self. Either way, its back to working and faster.
