Anyone notice recently that Mail having issues with IMAP servers.

At times, I'm unable to send, or receive mail, in Apple's Mail app.

When attempting to send with Googles IMAP, I get a error in the composition of the outgoing message stating that "it can't use the default port".

Same happens when receiving too... Mailbox goes "offline" and sometimes can't reconnect, popping up an error "Can't connect on Port 993"

Yet its a "once off" affair... More times than not .

Its not the port, not IDE setting otherwise it would be happening all the time.

Plus, that is only used, if server supports it, otherwise its not. At lease, thats my take on it.

I've been using Mail all day, so if I try again within few seconds usually its ok.

If you're just talking about gmail servers. SOmetimes the servers themselves have issues. In general the connect issues I see with Apple Mail are usually server side issues, even if they're only intermittent ones.

The other issue people have reported is that some imap servers have issues with mail being checked too often. A 5 minute check interval is good. Using a 1 minute check mail interval is too often for a lot of imap servers. By too often, some actually actively deny connections for a few minutes for the user in question.
