Anyone know what IMDPersistenceAgent does and why it is necessary? Is it an OS X system process?

If it's related to Messaging, as suggested in that post, then it's bloat. I don't have any messaging account set up, and I don't intend to use that service.
I wonder if there is an easy way to permanently disable it.
