iMessage 'Activation Failed'

I can't activate iMessage. I says 'Waiting for activation...', then, after about 20 minutes, it says 'Activation failed'.

I have tried all the obvious things (I think). Restart phone, reset iMessage, use different apple ID etc but can't seem to get it working.

Anyone else experienced this issue?

Did you try a hard reset? Holding down the power and home button until the phone resets?

Hard reset doesnt seem to have made any difference
