Is it just accepted that iMessage across iPhone + macOS basically never syncs properly? Even if you use the manual sync button?

Trying to bounce between my phone and macbook is worthless.

Have had almost no problems myself between my iPhone 12 Pro Max (currently running iOS 14.6) and 2018 Mini (still on Catalina). When I'm at home, I frequently will take a picture with the phone and share it in an iMessage thread. Then I will go immediately to the Mac and make a post to the same thread, since it's easier to type on a physical keyboard. Syncs up both ways without doing anything manual.

I can't get my iMessage message deletion to synchronize between my iMac, M1 MacMini, iPad Pro, Apple Watch, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. I waste a lot of time pruning old iMessage messages from each device. I'd love to hear about a fix.

You'll never get Apple Watch to automatically delete its local messages in sync with iCloud. It doesn't work. It never has and probably never will. It's a known foible of the watch and Apple shows no signs of ever fixing it.

Wow, the Watch thing is kind of a pain. I've got a GPS dog tracker collar, and I've turned on the option to txt me if the dog leaves the house. Of course most of time the doggie is with me. But that gives me one thread of txts a day going on walks. Also, you can't mass delete txts on an Apple Watch, right?

Apple is awful with syncing. I don’t understand why they don’t care. It doesn’t work well with Messages and it certainly doesn’t do well with their Podcasts app.

Any good ideas or tips on how to set up the sync to work properly?

I like my new MacBook Air, old MacBook Pro, iPad Air, and iPhone 13 mini to sync iMessage. iMessage in iCloud is enabled on all devices. Things are going so so with all devices but as the iPad is often in Airplane mode for extended periods, it seems like it cannot “catch up” with the latest version once reconnected.
Ideas?
