iMessage conversations split on iPhone

I've been trying to find a fix for this problem but I don't know how to.

Here's the scenario, my girlfriend has her phone number, Apple ID and iCloud email address linked to iMessage. I have all of the listed contact information linked to one contact profile.

When I receive an iMessage from her, its normally from her phone number but sometimes it alternates between the three iMessage alias'. Whichever iMessage alias she sends from, I'm not bothered.

The problem I have is that Messages on iOS separates the conversations based on the different alias'. Essentially, I have three separate conversations with my girlfriend, instead of one. Messages on OS X has no problem telling me what alias my girlfriend is using and consolidates all messages into one conversation.

Is this a known issue on the iPhone? Is there a fix around this?

    Thanks!

    iPhone 6, iOS 8.4.1

On your girlfriend's phone, go to:

    Settings>Messages

Scroll down to 'Send & Receive' and open that.

Where it says 'You can be reached by iMessage at', untick all the settings other than their mobile phone number.

Then it should later update the 'start new conversations from' as only having that number. That way you won't get iMessages from their email address.

Hope this helps (or if it's what you were looking for) :)

Is that the only fix around it?

Pretty much in my experience, Apple's iMessage service will randomly send from different addresses for no apparent reason, even when it's just set to send from one.

Ah, that's so annoying! I hope this is fixed in iOS 9. I don't know how easy it is to fix but it's so irritating when one conversation is split into three different message threads!

Completely agree, I'm not even sure if the issue's server side or on the OS. I guess you can try logging out and back into iCloud/iMessage on their phone to see if that makes a positive impact. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful but I hope others may have a few other suggestions!

I want to say that it's an issue with iOS as I have no problem on OS X. I may be wrong.

I've tried doing that but no use.

    Thank you anyway!
