iMessage Handwriting ?

I saw the iMessage demo but they failed to show how to write handwritten messages. I tried see if I could get it working but had no luck. Is this feature missing from this beta 1 ? If not can someone please tell me how use it ? Thanks

When you're in iMessage and you flip your phone landscape, it allowed me to hand write on the screen.
