Older devices that cannot run recent versions of iOS.Are we talking older devices running iOS 11 or older devices no longer supported by the latest OS versions?
Actually that sounds completely unfeasible. When you send an iMessage, your phone has no idea what the receiving hardware is going to be for a variety of technical and privacy reasons. And if it's being sent as an SMS Apple has no control over what happens to it. Emoji just aren't important enough to build a whole infrastructure around filtering them on a user by user basis.
At least on Apple devices we have a much extended lifetime of OS updates than on other hardware platforms. Note how few android phones can even update to new OS releases after a year or two.
So you don’t gain new friends these days....?Who starts new iMessage threads these days?
So you don’t gain new friends these days....?![]()
Bugs like this make me happy. People need to learn that sending messages to strangers is dangerous. All I've needed for years is the loopback.I do realize that this is an internet forum filled with nerds, so this might possibly be a foolish question, but...
Have you ever met a new friend before?
The reason to start a new iMessage thread: courage. The courage to start one with an emoji and do something that glitches the app out.Who starts new iMessage threads these days?
There are certainly those who would disagree: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/worst-release-ever.2095004/iOS 11 has the worst QA of any mobile, operating systems Apple has ever released. There are so many problems out there still, including ones far more serious than poop emojis.

As mentioned, that might not be the case. And this thread doesn't really have much to do with anything about that given that the issue discussed in this thread has been around from well before iOS 11.I think most would agree that iOS 11 is the most bug-laden release ever. Apple is having to pump out updates on a near weekly basis.
No, you’re emojing wrong. All of you.But probably easy to work around if you just add a starting word/letter before the first emoji in the opening message.
This is barely an issue.
Well, if your idea of an opening conversation starter is a single emoji, especially that emoji, maybe you need to work on your social talking skills :\
Funniest comment I've read in weeks - Coffee went flying all over the placeWell, if your idea of an opening conversation starter is a single emoji, especially that emoji, maybe you need to work on your social talking skills :\
especially with just a poop face
