Hey everyone. I'm not sure this has been posted otherwise and I know it's a common issue that's been talked about. I've had one genius bar appointment and now two apple support phone calls with a callback promised for Sunday to further discuss this matter. I'm having an issue with two of my iMessage contacts that have come up in the last month. I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T a month ago so I'm wondering if that's played any sort of role in this. iMessage works for every other contact I can and syncs up fine between my computer and my iPhone without a hitch. The two contacts I'm having an issue with happen on my phone. For some reason those two contacts conversations will have a hard time staying synced up and at random times my phone will switch to sms just for those two contacts. I've asked them to sign out of iMessage with their apple ID, sign back in and to have them erase their network settings. The really odd thing about this is it will switch back to iMessage when I'm on my mac and after some time syncing of messages will happen again. This is so sporadic and random that it's hard to pinpoint the issue. I'm running a 6S, latest iOS update, I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of on my end. Has anybody else encountered this specific issue?

iMessage is working perfectly fine on my Mac.

uncheck the "Settings>Messages>Send as sms" setting and then see if you have the same problem. restart your phone after you change the setting.

The recipients probably have a bad connection or have mobile data disabled for messages.
Your iMessage is working perfectly. You don't need to call support, they do. Lol

I've tried unchecking send as sms and that didn't make a difference. Also an update another contact I've added has now encountered the same issue. I've been in contact with Apple support now over several phone calls and I've send them screenshots, descriptions of what's going on, and still it hasn't been resolved. I have another callback scheduled for tomorrow evening and I'm hoping I can get some sortof update as to what exactly is going on here.

Well after encountering this issue again I decided to finally take this down to the AT&T store. After going through several troubleshooting techniques not unlike what i had already done previously it was decided that it was for sure a phone issue. Went to the Apple Store without an appointment and was able to get in I explained what I had been through. After replicating the issue on my phone the tech decided to try my sim in a blank test phone and voila it worked. So got my phone swapped out for a new one and now everything is syncing again! Hopefully it lasts..
