I understand they don't have it included but what service providers have "limited messaging" now? Like where you can pick a plan of 200 texts a month? I believe when iMessage came out AT&T got rid of limited messaging. They only have unlimited.
This is incorrect. Only their "Mobile Share" plans include unlimited texting. With the "Individual" plans (which are a lot less expensive for single device subscribers), you pay $20/month for unlimited or $0.20 per SMS.

How do I make iMessage only send to people like iPods. I don't want to send a iMessage to a iPhone and use my data to send it, I have unlimited text but not data. When iMessage is on it make all contacts blue.

How does it make a difference? U expect apple to know u are chatting with someone who is on wifi only and restrict your account from responding etc bc u don't want to send or receive on data? Disable iMessage or get an iPod touch yourself. Even use your computer when you're at home...

Remove your phone number from iMessage and just use your email address. Have iPhone people text u and iPod people iMessage u. But I'm sure u will find an issue and want iPhone users to still iMessage on wifi lol

He means there isn't an option anymore for 200 texts. It's either none or unlimited....

Turn off your cellular data. Only turn it on when you get the dot you have a voice mail, want to send an MMS text or you need to access the Internet.

It won't stop all cell data use but it will reduce it

Basically, if you're sending messages to people on iPods, you're using data regardless of how you do it because iPods aren't phones and don't support texting aside from Apps.

The amount of data it takes to send an iMessage is negligible in the grand scheme of things... you're really splitting hairs, here.

Quite frankly I'm not a huge fan of iMessage either, as I have limited data, but I believe all verizon plans now include unlimited texting. So instead of using what I have unlimited of, its using my data. But I like imessage for being able to access it on my laptop so I leave it on.

Devil's advocate:

If you can't afford the data plan associated with owning an iPhone don't have an iPhone.

That's like buying a BMW and then complaining how expensive the oil change is.
