Sorry for title not sure what it called.

my 2010 macbook with sierra is not removing the number.

my fiancee messaged me from her ipad (im 14 miles away at work).
So I get a number 1 in red blob.

I read it reply and dock imessage and go back to firefox.
she replied and I get alert top right corner.

I got to dock and imessage has a number 2 now.
only 1 new message though.

again i relpy and go back to firefox.

this repeats and so far have a number 16 above imessage.

I have quit i message and restarted it, say numbers keep going up even though I read them.

any ideas?

Try logging out of iCloud on your Mac, then back in.
