iMessage not downloading photos iPhone.

hi, got a problem receiving photoes and videos, says download but nothing happens, even a day later it's still on download. Read receipts show message is read on the senders phone. Resending works at times, but sometimes it takes 3 attempts.
iOS 6s plus on Verizon network. Does same thing on wifi.
