Me and my wife have an iPhone, our son has an iPod touch and we also have an iPad. Currently, we all share the same apple ID and password so purchases are valid across all devices... and they are all synced with the same mac as well.

I just updated my iPhone and see the new iMessage when sending on wifi. Is this using my gmail or apple ID?

When I upgrade my wife's phone, will she get my iMessages on her phone (and vice verse)? Again, she has a separate email but same apple ID.

And for that matter, when I get a text, is it going to show on the ipad and ipod as well??

I'm a bit confused and holding off on the upgrade for the rest for now.

    Thanks

I would presume it will be set initially to send from your cell #. If you go to Settings>Messages and then scroll down until you see 'receive at'. In my case it was set to my cell number...I then added my apple ID and it now says received at '2 addresses'

You'll need to create separate Apple ID's.

It's a bit confusing due to how Apple used the same names.

You can create separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime for each device, but still have them share the same Apple ID for iTunes.

This will allow you to share purchases on one account, but let everybody create their own separate ID's for other functions. Because it defaults to the main Apple ID and it's what users have shared for song, it's not intuitive that you can create and use separate Apple ID's for certain functions.

Mine has '2 addresses' as well... but how do remove the apple ID? or change it? I wouldn't mind if it was just attached to the email.
