Hi folks. I bet there is a simple answer to this question, but I haven't been able to figure it out on my own.

This week I upgraded my iPhone 5 to an iPhone 7.

iMessage works on the iPhone 7 (iOS 10.1.1).

It works on my MacBook Pro 13" with Superdrive (mid-2012) (OS X 10.11.6)

But the two are not synched. They were with the old phone, but aren't now.

How do I get them to sync? What am I missing?

Devices added to iPhone in Settings>Messages>Text Message Forwarding?

Tried the ol' "log out everywhere/log back in everywhere" with iCloud?

is the phone using the number for imessage and the mac using the email address?

That was the problem for my fiancee when she got her macbook air, it was using her email while phone used number.
