Anyone having this issue? Just setup my new Max but I’m getting this waiting for activation message so I’m not getting my texts.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Try turning iMessage off, removing your SIM card and activating again (while connected to WiFi). If it activates then just reinsert your SIM.

I had a similar but different issue about a year and a half ago where the iPhone I wanted to forward iMessage to would not show up in the list.

Worth a try anyway.

I'm having a similar issue where my MacBook isn't getting the SMS messages from my iPhone Xs Max, but when I attempt to send an SMS from my MacBook, it says failed but the message went through on the iPhone.

I was on the phone with Apple for about half an hour and they said it may be because the phone is still attempting to do some background work and might resolve itself in a day or so, so we'll see.

I am having the same issue when I got my iPhone XSMax today. Did you get yours resolved?

Did you check and make sure that SMS forwarding is on? With a new phone it resets to not being on by default

Settings > Messages > Text message forwarding and select the device you want to allow forwarding and sending from

Yup, did it multiple times. Ended up restoring the phone again which fixed it.

I ended up restoring my phone and backing up again without messing with it until it was all backed up and it's working fine now. Something must have happened with the initial backup.

Did you restore as new or from an iCloud backup, and which backup did you use if I may ask?

I used the same iCloud backup I tried using the moment I got the phone, but instead of messing with the settings I just left it charging and didn’t touch it for a couple hours (was sleeping) and it wasn’t perfectly fine the next day.

Before thinking about restoring my phone I did every possible thing I could think of, including removing my iChat database from my Mac and restoring it, but nothing worked until the iPhone Max restore.

Good luck!

Everything literally just started working!
