Hi

Myself, my partner and daughter all have iPhone's, however I don't receive imessages off my daughter, just text messages, however my partner get imessages off her. Can any one explain why?

iMessage is rubbish. The same happens to me - messages just randomly decide to go through as a text rather then an iMessage, even when we are on the same wifi network!
I've given up with iMessage!

In the Contacts app, check your daughter's number is using the 'iPhone' heading instead of just 'phone' and see if it makes a difference?

Perhaps your phone is not recognizing that your daughter has an iPhone if in the Contacts app, the number is saved as just 'phone' instead of' iPhone'.....

And just for the record - its written as 'iMessage'....!! ;)

Could you claim that iMessage isn’t rubbish if a message you had sent to your friend 15 mins ago, had been received by him 15 mins later even he had internet connection that moment :) Unfortunately iMessage doesn’t work very well.

It doesn't matter what title the phone number has in Contacrs. "Phone" or "iPhone" are the same as far as iOS is concerned. It's just a label.

You both need to go to messages in the settings and make sure all is correct.

Make sure your Apple ID are selected as options as well. This shouldn't be necessary, but is known to help.

Hope this helps.

Seem to recall that people got it to go blue by deleting old conversation threads with the person, as seems like if sent once as a text, will keep sending it that way.

So, have daughter delete the conversation thread, and you as well to be safe. Then have daughter send a fresh message.

And! Just to be safe, make sure Messages is actually on on daughter phone.

...or, it could be that the daughters name is saved more than once in Contacts so the phone doesn't know what to do with the message?

...perhaps not.

Above the actual contact details, there is a line of blue bubbles - for non iPhone users, it shows: 'message', 'call', 'video' and 'mail' however, if the contact has an iPhone, it should show, 'message', 'iPhone', 'video' and 'mail'.

I don’t have a single contact that states: ‘iPhone’ as contact number, they’re all listed as ‘mobile’ and i also have several friends who just recently bought an iPhone. The first message I received / sent from / to their iPhone was iMessage regardless of the older messages, so I think it might have more to do with the settings and / or Apple ID.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a French or German number, they’re all blue bubbles if they have an iPhone.
Additionally in contacts the FaceTime video / audio option is shown if they have an iPhone.
Have you synced your contacts via iCloud as well? Try to log out and back in with your Apple ID and make sure iMessage is activated within message settings.

I had this problem yesterday. Suddenly, iMessage wasn’t working for me. In settings, iMessage had turned off and refused to turn back on. I did a hard reset and everything was fine.

I would try to turn off iMessage and then turn it on again, and make sure everybody is logged in with the correct Apple IDs

I have a different issue my iMessage. My main phone number just won’t get activated, no matter what I did. On the other hand, other numbers/SIMs that use for traveling worked fine, and iMessage even auto-recognize them without much fuss. Just weird,
