iMessages and SMS over satellite

are there chances that with the next version of Apple watches, iMessages and SMS can be sent over satellite?

Or even phoned (voice)?

I suppose perhaps at some point, but I would expect the size, power and battery requirements will be prohibitive for at least another couple generations.
