Personally, I think it's a bit of a shame. The detail in that figurine is immensely impressive and deserves to be seen outside of these pictures. I think that as a premium limited edition collectors’ item, it should be allowed to be sold, and if the majority of its profits were to go to cancer charities, then surely that’s got to be a GOOD thing, hasn't it - Steve Jobs' memory somehow preserved in the form of an extremely good likeness while research into the disease that ultimately took him away benefits from its sale. Win/win?

The details are way too high for a 12" figure. I can bet they've never meant to make it in that detail.

Tell that to his still-grieving wife and kids, you heartless fool.

How do you know that they are "still grieving"?

Sometimes in circumstances like this (ill for years, in pain, hospice care...), the family and friends will be relieved that the suffering is over - and grief takes a different form. When you're with someone who takes many months to die, it's different from a sudden illness or accident.

What the hell is "creepy" about a realistically sculpted doll? All you people that collect iThings do realize that there are others out there that collect stamps, salt shakers, and yes, toys and action figures, right?

Is this "creepy"?

How about this?

I understand why his family would be upset, and I also get why Legal action could be taken. It's probably not a good idea to go making something like this without permission, especially from Apple, but to criticize anyone who may have wanted one is pretty hypocritical for a group of individuals who stand in line for telephones, no?

Just sayin. Now down vote away! :)

Thank you. I happen to collect 1/6 scale figures and regularly spend $100+ on them because of how accurate they are reproduced. I don't think I would have bought this particular figure, but I respect the artist who sculpted the likeness. I thought it was very well done and in good taste, but as others have said, if the family doesn't want it, then the company is right to cease production.

I think they are both in the wrong.

The company producing the doll should have acted in good faith and asked for permission, while at the same time, Apple suing like they "own" him is over the top.

If In Icon were so concerned...

...about Steve's family and "halted production" (implying that some had already been produced) the proper thing to do would be to donate those figures already produced to the family for the purposes of them being auctioned off, with the proceeds going to cancer research.

Steve Jobs' family doesn't care about cancer research.

This is it.

A few years from now this story might of been different. However as of right now it's too soon to be making any toy figures of Steve. Wait until at least after the one year anniversary to respect the family and their grief.

The only thing I had against this was concern for his children and wife. In 5 years, if they try again, it will be a non- story.

A Steve Ballmer doll would be great, make those instead, he won't care, the fat bastard. And you could have little wet armpits, and a built-in booming speaker for the voice.

Price it at $99 for the home doll and $129 if you need to join the doll to a network, and sell a 'premium' Ballmer doll that pops up out of the ground and kicks a chair at an Eric Schmidt doll!

This is exactly the same as the Michael Jackson family.

The Jackson family took offence to a likeness of Michael Jackson dancing as a Zombie in the game Plants vs Zombies. So much so that the game developers had to remodel the sprite so it no longer looked like Michael Jackson.

That's the link with the official statement from the game developers on the issue.

I see someone is getting $2500 a pop on eBay. I should have bought a few when I had the chance. It could have paid my mortgage for a few months.

I'm so disappointed that it wasn't a Steve Jobs action figure.

Press on the back, and the right arm comes down with a karate chop.

Voice: "I beat the Microsoft suckers!"

They did that with Bush (well actually it was one of the pull cord designs). It was pretty funny.
