Hi all,

My first post here...

I've been noticing a serious image quality loss in iMovie with still images. At first I thought it happened during export so I checked the compression settings etc. but it didn't change anything about the quality. Afterwards I noticed that iMovie already decreases image quality after importing the still images to the project.

I found a YouTube movie online that shows the exact same issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mXjT-Ua3dc

Any suggestions how and if this can be fixed?

The individual frames of a movie usually have limited quality, only when seen as part of a movie the quality is acceptable. The only real solution is to film with a very high quality camera, or take actual photographs of images you want to use as stills.

The photographs I am using in the project are of high quality. There is a big difference between the photo itself (viewed in Preview) and the photo that is shown after being imported in iPhoto. It seems like iPhoto is compressing the HQ photograph, which causes the bad quality.
