imovie 6 video fx wont work

About half of the video effects wont work, including the slow/fast/reverse, which i really need for my current project.
I tried re loading imovie 6, but it made no difference.

Anyone else had this problem?
What can i do to solve it?

Only noticed it since i upgraded to 06 (but dont have 05 disk to go back to.)

Any tips appreciated massively,
