I have an Elgato Video Converter and in the process of converting old VHS tapes. The Elgato Converter is making the files no problem. The plan was to use iMovie to edit them, and export video files. The only problem is when I do, iMove crops and stretches the video files, is there any way to use iMove and have it keep the old 640x480 video format?

If I can't use iMove is there better software to do this?

Anything that will keep the old aspect ratio an clean them top if they need it?

I am new to this and could use any suggestions before I do the other 50 VHS tapes I have to convert :-(

Which version of iMovie are you using? If iMovie 10, then select the clips in the Timeline, select the Crop tool above the Preview window and then click on the "Fit" button.

I have the newest version.

I am not looking to change or crop the original. Would this keep the file resolution the same 640x480 the source file is?
[doublepost=1489876290][/doublepost]Thanks that worked, everything goes to 640x480.

I guess I am degrading the quality when iMovie renders the file anyway so its a moot point. Just trying to bulk convert the tapes and then edit the stuff I need out of the large files. The point is just to get the tape to digital ASAP, clean them up later.
