iMovie Explosions & Effects: Virtix Arsenal on Intel iMac?

Has anyone been able to get Virtix Arsenal working on an Intel Mac? I am running iMovie 6 HD in Rosetta mode so that the plugins should work. But Virtix just locks up iMovie.

Any other cheap, easy way to make explosions and gun fire for iMovie?
