How on earth do you fade audio at the end off a movie? The "Help" is useless just saying:
  1. To reveal the fade handles, position the pointer over the audio portion of a clip in the timeline. What are these "fade handles" supposed to look like? I do see an up and down pointing arrow thing??
  2. Drag the fade handle to the point in the clip where you want the fade to begin or end. The only effect I get while dragging and clicking is the lower the volume of the whole clip, not a portion of it.
Any experts out there please?

Hope this is in the right place..............

The fade handles are essentially DOTS at the beginning and end of the audio portion of a clip.

Go to the end of the clip, where you want the music to stop. If you hover your mouse over the end of the audio, at the line that represents the audio volume. You should see a DOT... move your mouse cursor over that dot so that you see left-right arrows on either side of that dot ( < • > ). Then click and drag that dot to the left to the point where you want the audio to start to fade.

Many thanks, done and dusted!!

Well, well. I've been using iMovie for years. Never knew about that. Thanks.

To the OP, if you want to adjust the volume in the middle of a clip or music track, you get the Fade Handles like so. Position the mouse where you want it, then press and hold. The handles will appear:

Drag them out to limit the boundaries of the adjustment:

You can then drag down the volume level:

Click away and you can see 4 dots:

Using them, you can fine tune the fade in/out:

This is also how it works in FCPX (both cases, along with others). IMHO, designed during Apple's "non-intuitive" epoch.
