iMovie HD Problem

Ok so I have iMovie HD and I have this problem, my iPhone 3gs records in a non standard aspect ratio so when I put a movie into iMovie it tried to fix the aspect ratio and it made the video all stretched out. How do I prevent it from doing this?

When holding the 3Gs in landscape view, it's records in standard 4:3 VGA.

Sometimes i cant though so in this case how do i fix it?

Why cant cameras in apple products figure this out though, my old android never did vertical videos...

Why are you blaming the device when the fault in human in nature? I've never had any of my iOS devices record a video in an orientation that I did not want it to.

Yeah pretty much, i dont seem to record properly because if i do turn the device i turn it so the volume keys are on the top and its difficult to start/stop recording.
