iMovie import ques

First import on iMovie with Canon HV30, shot in HD30p.
Import went ok, but I checked the Stabilization box and now it is taking 10 hours to stabilize all the images, most of which were hand held.

Can I do this process AFTER I edit my piece, instead of all the footage?
