imovie issue

I'm editing in imovie and have 22 minutes of content. And now for some reason when I click on my clips they go grey?? Whatsup with that? Is this project too big for my imac to handle?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't believe so. Even the photos that I have in library can't be dragged into the timeline. And when I pull a clip out of the timeline it just leaves an empty space where the clip once was. That's why I think it might be a RAM issue?
