Hi. I'm learning iMovie 10.
Trying to learn how iMovie stores files, and what I need to do to keep things clutter-free! (Particularly because my hard-drive is almost full!!)
In Finder, I went to: user1 > Movies > iMovie Library.imovielibrary, right-clicked and choose "Show Package Contents".
In that directory I see the following sub-directories:
In iMovie, I started creating a project (?), and then decided to delete it to see what happens.
Under the "Projects" tab, all I now see is "Create New". So far so good.
However, if I go to the "Media" tab, then I see:
Q1.) Why do I have those two entries in my Library? (I would expect "TEST" to definitely not be there, since I just deleted it!)
If I then go back to Finder, with the expanded container folder, I see "7-14-20" with "CurrentVersion.imovieevent" inside which doesn't seem too bad.
However, I also see "TEST" and it has lots of stuff insdie of it, including the original .mp4 that I imported.
Q2.) So why is the "TEST" directory, and all of its contents, still hanging around?!
If I was working on the actual videos that I shot last week - which are like 1-8 GB - things would get out of control very quickly!!
Q3.) What is a workflow that I can follow to make sure I don't have duplicate files, and also don't have old files hanging around?
As mentioned in another thread, I would really prefer to set up my own folder structure and workflow like I do for audio editing, including a "STAGING" and "COMPLETE" folder.
If that is not possible in iMovie, then I at least what to understand how iMovie is behaving so I keep control of my video components (e.g. raw video, audio, images), my video projects, and my final videos.
Thanks!!
