When I got my macbook air with lion I had iMovie. I upgraded to mavericks today and now I have to buy iMovie for $15? Is there a way to get iMovie for free because I already had it?

Are you using the same Apple ID? Your Lion install should've offered to add iLife to your account the first time you opened the App Store.

you just have to go to the tab Purchases on the AppStore to download imovie for free again.

Way to be awesome. I flipped out for a sec, because I haven't used iMovie in a long time and needed to create a video. I got mad when I saw it was $15, googled a fix, and here you are.
I also saw OS X El Capitan installer is saved in purchases so now I can back up El Capitan for my 2008 Macbook.
