iMovie playing poorly

We are using iMac (Intel) with iMovie 10. Haven't had any problems in years, but now, when we create a project (photo montage with music), while it looks fine in playback, after "exporting" it (to desktop), and playing the export back, the pictures are jumpy and "moving" etc. I can't seem to figure out a setting to change to fix this. Does anyone have a suggestion
