We need more info before anyone here can begin to help you.

    What version of iMovie?
    What Mac?
    What OS?
What happens when you try to open it? Is there an error message? Does anything happen at all? Does the dock light up under the icon even?

I wouldn't report anything to Apple unless you can manage to explain the problem to them better than "I can't open Imovie [sic]".

Hi, I just got the computer a week ago and the first time opened fine.
    version 7
imac 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo
    leopard
there is an error message saying "the application imovie quit unexpectedly" and nothing else happens after that.
    Thanks for your interest RumMonkey

    OK, that's helpful.

Make sure you have all current updates applied (Go to the Apple menu in the top-left of your screen and choose "Software Update...").

If that doesn't help, you might need to try and re-install iMovie?

Have you installed anything recently that is related to video playback in any way? Any plug ins? Any apps like Flip4Mac or Perian? Any sort of Divx player or anything?

Is Quicktime working OK? Try and open any video file with Quicktime and see if it plays there OK.
