iPod touch iMovie produces squared sized movies?

I bought iMovie and went to edit a video. It was recorded with the rear camera. All good, all nice, I export it in HD but the resolution changes and it is a square in the middle of the screen.
Why is this happening?

Hasn't happened to me.. When I upload to youtube, it comes out in widescreen.

Not sure if it matters, but did you film in portrait or landscape? I always film in landscape.
