While using iMovie (Catalina iMovie 10.2.5) wanting to import just ONE clip from my desktop, I now get this "Project Media" screen which I've never noticed before. All the stuff it's showing is NOT on my desktop, and is older clips/photos from previous project. I can't seem to 'disable' this screen or delete the stuff it's showing. Is there someone to get rid of this? I don't see anything in iMovie preferences. Where does the Project Media stuff reside?

You will find Project Media at the top of the Side Bar in the main iMovie window. It shows all the media(video clips, photos, audio, graphics etc) that are in the Project that you have in the Timeline, as for my Project, Hog Feed.

I have no idea why your screenshot is showing those video clips.

In order to delete the files from the Project Media folder you will first have to delete them inside your projects themselves. As long as they are still "in use" you can't get rid of them.

If iMovie works the same as FCP, when you right click on a clip a menu pops up and one of the items is reveal in finder.
