Imovie to DVD

I created a Imovie from my camcorder. I burned it to Macintosh HD. I want to save it to a DVD so that it can be played on a regular DVD player. It's copying ok, but I cannot get it to play on DVD player so that I can share it with family and friends.

Even in iLife 2008! But it's worth getting the upgrade, either this year or from last.
