Can someone help.

I’m trying to import movie clips from iMovie ‘08 to Final Cut Express 4. In iMovie the clips is widescreen, but when I get it in FCE it appears 4:3.

I recorded the movie with a Canon FS200 which records in .MOD (don’t even get me started on that!)

Thank you,
Leonardo

Have a look into the manual for proper aspect ratios.

It might be that your sequence is not set to 16:9 or your FCE monitors.

Yes, I believe I set the ratio correctly in the camera to shoot at 16:9. When I play the clip in iMovie it shows in 16:9. I have set the FCE Easy Set to DV-NTSC, but when I import the file it shows in 4:3. Is there another way to set the ratio to 16:9 in FCE? is that what I might be missing?

thanks for the help.

I believe DV-NTSC setting tells the software to treat the clips as 4:3. Does it squish the clips, chops of the sides or add black bars at the bottom and top?

There also should be a DV-NTSC Widescreen (16.9) preset, and when I wrote manual in my first post, I meant the FCE manual.
