Imperfections

Are the macbook pro keys silver or black?

Recently I've noticed a few imperfections, I've only had the macbook pro for two days, and a key is extremely loose, I think a prong was broken, because it was like that when I got it. Another problem was that I have to put "extreme" pressure on the caps lock key for it to even turn on. And also, by my trackpad, there seems to be an "arch" towards the middle of the end.

Here's an image of the key, where you can tell that it is slanted upward, and awkwardly positioned.

If I took this in to a genius bar, they would replace those problems correct? None of them where my fault, like I said I just got the machine.

Also, is it normal to hear the fans slightly, in an extremely quiet room?

The macbook is definantly usable, but I don't want it to be a problem in the future.

I have also purchased the applecare plan

Dont know about MBP but my MB's caps is fine just a simple click does it, and my trackpad works good too, maybe ur trackpad is slow goto system prefrences click on universal access, click on mouse and trackpad and try speeding it up.
 
its all cosmetic. The trackpad works fine. Theres just a slight arch at the end of the trackpad before the spacebar.
 
You said Mac Book pro right ?...the keys look black to me ....maybe I need to calibrate my screen .

I'd say ring up Applecare & tell them about it & have an appointment arrange for a 'genius bar' visit .



They do look black those keys though :confused:
 
So do you think they will fix all problems? Because I've been lookig on the apple discussions, and Im seeing how people are getting charged for things.

haha. Its the camera dude. It distorts like that close up. Nah, Trust me id mention that in my post. Its a brand spankin new macbook pro. Nothing wrong with the screen.

Also, do the fans normally run all the time, and they can be heard slightly at 2000 rpm.

Oh, haha, no, I was talking about the guy who said your keys were black. :p

In an extremely quite room you can hear them.
It shouldn't sound like a hurricane or anything though. :p

Is the computer running hot?
 
oh okay I'm good then lol. No they are not like a hurricane, unless I bump them up to 6000 RPM then WOOO. lol.

So I shouldnt have a problem getting these problems fixed? and no cost involved? and also, do you think they will just replace the whole top panel, because there is a problem with the case arching by the trackpad?

No, you won't have a problem at all.
Technically, your computer is still under the 14 day return policy (I think it's 14 days) and you could walk in there and tell them you don't like the smell this gives off and you want a replacement and they couldn't do anything about it. :cool:

They will fix it for no charge at all.
Especially with you having Apple Care..

Most of the time, they charge you regardless if it's water damage.

So no swimming with you mac, sir!

I know it's very tempting to take a dive with Mac's in hand, but for some reason, Apple doesn't like it. :rolleyes:

You'll be fine.

Oh, and for the top case replacement,
just make sure they do that.
Be firm with them and make sure you tell them that it's a big deal to you.

They'll do it with out questioning.
 
darn! I thought it came waterproof. Man that totally ruined my fourth of july weekend =[, now I need to find a new floaty =[. hahaha. Thanks so much for your help.
 
well i think the screens fine!! , I did calibrate it with the built in OSX tool .....are they really that silver ??

I tried it on a couple of other monitors too.

Maybe it's your eyes?

I would hope not, but
get another pair of eyes in your house to check it out on that monitor.


Oh, and if possible, let's switch this to a PM so we don't hijack his thread anymore than we have.
 
I think you guys are just giving that poor guy a hard time on purpose, the keys on the MBP in the pic do in fact look black, I know they are silver because it's a MBP but I have a brand new iMac 24" with no calibration issues and those pics look of a black trackpad and black keys.

I'm not trying to give him a hard time. :eek:

They look very silver to me.
I'm not on an iMac, but I'm looking through a glossy screen at the moment.

I guess if I'm the only one that is seeing that they are VERY silver, it might be me.

This is strange.


I just checked again on a sony viao.
Same color.

Maybe it's a mac thing?
I don't have a mac near me to check it out.
 
HDlan , cheers but I don't think they are giving me a hard time tbh ....I've never been good at calibrating a screen as I don't use this screen for colour critical work or anything so it may well be 'off' a bit , I dunno .

I'm mirroring the display from an iMac G3 and the keys look black on that too but that said the calibration is prolly controlling the both of them ....of course , mirrored ...



any suggestions ?

My screen isn't calibrated.
Maybe that's it.
But it's weird that my screen and the viao is outputting the "correct" color.

hahaha. I go to bed and boom, like 10 new posts. hahaha.

They are very silver. I've tried it on 3 computers to ensure they are infact silver =P
