I'm about to zap my pram but before I do I was wondering if there are any dangers in doing so. To those wondering why, I'm about to turn in my iBook for inspection and the spanning hack is on there. Is this all I need to do to remove the hack? Is it safe? Thanks :)

Do you have a choice. No really, basically zapping the pram is just like resetting the bios on a PC back to its factory default. There is really no problem in doing it. The only problem with it, is that you might have to reset your clock in OS X when it boots back up again.

"...turn in my iBook for inspection..."
To Apple? To your school? What inspection?

Sorry, just curious...

I'm gonna have Apple take a look at it.

Just in case, the combo to zap the pram in Tiger is "Command+Option+P+R" right?

Correct :)

Resetting PRAM and NVRAM

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.
