Import att PAYG number to new iPhone?

Does anyone know if they allow you to import an ATT PAYG phone number when you get an iPhone 3G?

I have pay as you go plan now and I'd like to keep my number.

Wait, are you buying the iPhone new from at&t (in which case I think you pay full price) or are you getting it some where else?

Either way, you should be able to change it over. If you're just buying a new iPhone, they just give you a new sim card.
