What's the best way to get my iTunes from Snow Leopard into iTunes on Mountain Lion ?

I put a new Hard Drive in my MBP and have my old Snow Leopard Hard Drive in a USB enclosure.

I already tried moving my entire itunes folder over but ML didn't like that

Thanks, I had already done that and it doesn't work - when I do that and launch iTunes it says it can't read some itl file and wants to download iTunes.

Even if I copy the previously removed itl file iTunes will open up ut it's lank.

I'm assuming this is because of Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.

Could be. Is it just music you want to bring over? All the music is in the folder I listed below. Can you just open iTunes in Mountain Lion then drag that folder in iTunes to import the music into a new iTunes library.

    Code:
    /Users/[I]username[/I]/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Music

One important piece of advice... Make sure all your iTunes media files are contained WITHIN the iTunes folder... If they are not, then they probably reside somewhere OUTSIDE the folder which you linked into your iTunes library, and when you copy the iTunes folder over to ML, these orphaned media source files are not copied over.

Yes everything is within my iTunes folder.

Those are in the below folder. You can try manually moving them in also.

If it is just that and Music... you might be able to get away with a drag/drop into the app itself for the music and a manual copy of the apps.

    Code:
    /Users/[I]username[/I]/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Mobile Applications
As long as your source is backed up, it won't hurt to give it shot.

I figured it out. The folder structure is different in Mountain Lion. I just manually dragged everything from my old hard drive into the iTunes window itself and everything imported all nicely, Apps too !
