"Import" option not available for video camera

For some reason my Video Camera no longer has an option to import footage into iMovie or iPhoto since re-installing Snow Leopard. Previously I was able to click "File, Import from Camera" and then select my Camcorder from the camera list. But now my Panasonic SDR-H18 no longer appears in this list when connected, although it does appear as a mounted drive on the desktop.

Any ideas?

Upon searching google for "SDR-H18 Mac Drivers" (I figured it might be a drivers issue) the first link was to a page that said importing it directly to iMovie did not work by default but that you needed to install Streamclip from Apple:
