So since iCloud doesn't sync videos, I have to connect my iPhone (4S, running iOS 7) to my Mac via cable and use Image Capture. The video was there in Image Capture, I dragged it to the Photos icon in the dock (no clue how to import to Photos from Image Capture).

Then, Image Capture immediately deleted the photo from my iPhone, as the checkmark "delete after import" was checked. I usually use Image Capture to quickly offload media from my iPhone, and I want it to delete stuff AFTER importing them.

But the video never arrived into Photos. It's nowhere to be found. I don't know its file name so I can't search for it. It's not in "last imported". Is it just gone forever without a single confirmation dialog from the OS? How the hell does this happen? There's no "undo" or anything here.
