I have reasonable experience using iPad (linked to Windoes device) but I am new to an iMac. In the past I have been accustomed to successfully syncing my photos from the Windows device on to our iPads, retaining the folders/albums with their descriptive names.

My most recent syncing, from the folders now on iMac, lost the folders. Also I am trying to get the photos, in their folders, into Photo on the iMac.

Can I readily achieve what I am trying to do? We have about 75000 photos, of which about 25000 in 200 folders are the ones which we really want to handle in this way.

I don't think there is a way to automatically do what you ask short of a specialty app, which you might find in the App Store (but I could not). A workaround would be to open Photos on the Mac, show the Sidebar, and create the 200 descriptively named albums you want. Then, one at a time, drag each of your 200 album folders onto it's associated album folder in the sidebar. This imports the pictures into Photos and adds them to that particular album.

Thanks to Chabig for response. I hope that a better solution emerges, or I may just not use Photios.

In the meantime, my son has sorted my iPad syncing problem, so at least I once again have my proper albums on the iPad.
