I'll try to make this long and confusing situation short and clear, so bear with me.

Currently I have a bunch of pictures in my iPhoto and Pictures folder on my computer. I want to get all of my pictures from the Pictures folder into iPhoto without creating duplicates. Seems pretty simple and I know how to do this if it was that simple.

Part of the problem I have right now is that I am running very low on HD space, which is why I am trying to get rid of any duplicate pictures I have.

Here are the problems as I see them...

1. A lot of the pictures in my Pictures folder are already in iPhoto.
2. I think some of the pictures in my iPhoto are linked to the picture in the Pictures folder and not to one in the iPhoto Library.
3. As stated before, I am low on HD space, so I cannot just duplicate everything into iPhoto and later clean up the duplicates.

Any help on where I could start? What more could I clarify to help you understand the situation?

EDIT - Or better yet, is there a way I can export everything out of iPhoto into my Pictures folder? If I did that, I could then import everything back into iPhoto once all duplicate files had been taken care of.
