    Hi guys!

I just got myself a basic camcorder, records to Mini-DV Tapes and takes photos that are also put onto tape (6s of tape per photo)

What i am wondering is (Because the manual doesnt seem to specify) how i would get these photos off of the tape and onto my computer? (Either into iMovie 9 or iMovie 6 HD)

The only connectivity is via a firewire port.

The Camcorder is a Samsung VP-D80

    Any information/assistance is appreciated :D

Obviously, you need a Mac with a FireWire input. I have an old Sony camcorder with a FireWire output and mini DV tapes. It's been awhile since I imported video, but it was just a matter of connecting my camcorder to my Mac, starting the record function in iMovie, pressing Play on my camcorder, and capturing the video in real time as it played. Although I haven't done it, I think you can then capture frames from the imported video.

I got a MacBook Pro so no problem there in regards to firewire port

I did assume as much but wanted confirmation, i dont want iMovie importing one long slideshow that i have to sift through and the camcorder only has basic photo functionality (I can take photos, and then search for them on the tape but thats it, plus 10 photos per 1 minute of tape so 1 tape can hold 620 photos (62mins) )
