Importing video files wont work!

Im tryint to import my video files from my camera into imovie HD and it said its not compatible? What should i do!?!?!

more info.... camera brand and model... using firewire?

The camera is a JVC GZ-MG21 and it came with a USB, no firewire. Ive been reading and at first i thought that was my problem but maybe not because i can see the files on the computer, their just not highlighted and i cant click on them. When i try to play them in QuickTime it sais it cant. The files look like this: MOV10F.MOD or MOV10F.MOI. Is there a way to fix this and make it work or am i screwed?
