Having a hard to click trackpad issue. I understand its a haptic, and not really clicking, and it only happens when I have a modifier key pressed down, like command.

My typical usage is hold down modifier with left thumb, and then click in the lower right of the trackpad with my right thumb. I must do this countless times a day. However ever since I got the M1 MacBook Air either it fails to press down, so I have to move my hand and click in the middle, or super press down hard on it.

Anyone else with this issue?

Not happening on mine. If you go to trackpad settings and on Secondary Click, change it to use lower right corner, does it do the same?

Mine will work with very little pressure all the way to the curve in the corner to about an inch to the left.

Interesting suggestion, thanks! That does seem to work, because I am no longer holding the modifier key to set it off. However I have been using the Mac for now decades, it will be a hard habit to unlearn.

I called Apple support and they told me to take it in. Definitely a strange problem

Oh wait that won't work, shucks. Most my command click usage is "open tab in background" cmd click in Safari, which doesn't work

I'm having a similar issue on my M1 MBP, though it seems to be isolated to the top half of the trackpad, closer to the keyboard. Whenever I press a modifier key and immediately tap the top half of my trackpad, my taps don't register. This is especially frustrating in Safari when I often hit Command + tap to open links in a new tab. If I hit a modifier key and tap anywhere else on the trackpad, it's fine. I'm hoping this is a software bug rather than a hardware fault because I'm very happy with the M1 MBP otherwise.

OMG I was about to open thread saying "Unable to click trackpad while holding down a key".

Now I see it is specifically the lower right of the trackpad which is of course where one clicks the most. What the heck?!

Why is it doing that? I want this to function like a regular mechanical button. This "thinking" trackpad is messing things up. Someone please tell me how to turn off whatever it is doing and get this to work. Thanks
