Quote: "With iOS 11, Portrait Mode images can be taken with optical image stabilization, True Tone flash and HDR, so every shot looks even more professional."

What does this mean? I thought that the telephoto lens does NOT have OIS. The wide angle lens has OIS.
    Anyone have any idea?

No because Apple guy says that it is specifically for 7 plus.

See Apple presentation video. Go to around 55 min mark.

Somebody said he installed beta on the 7 Plus in another thread. Maybe there will be more info available.

So far I’m not getting any better results. I tried taking a portrait mode pic in decent lighting and it still said more light required.

There is a lot that can be done in software to improve image quality. Look at the pixel camera. The results from that camera are far better than it's specs would suggest. This is due to great active and post processing of the images.

Now you can use Flash, HDR Mode in Portrait Mode. For the OIS, Apple is using some form of electronic IS, using the OIS in the wide camera. Technically they are using OIS.
