improving dock loading speed

i have my dock to automatically hide. is there a way to improve the speed that it appears when i move my mouse cursor to the bottom ? how about a kb command to make it temp. appear ?

To make the Dock temporarily appear press the CMD-ALT-D combo - press it again to make it go away.

thank you so much. i just programmed that to one of my mouse buttons. i like to just see it really quick to see if i forgot to quit a application.

would show you all open apps. while holding command you can use your mouse, arrow keys, or command key to go to another app.
