I use my 4,1 for music and audio, and I have put it behind a wall to eliminate noise. Problem is, my trackpad (1st gen) connects via bluetooth, and now it responds all jittery. It was great when the 4,1 was right there.

I'm googling bluetooth repeaters/extenders but it not clear to me how they work, or whether they would work at all for my setup.

Anybody tackled this?

everymac.com says my computer has bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, but I have not yet been able to determine what protocol the trackpad uses. Since it is from 2010, I assume it would be similar.

I run a recording studio with my remote Mac Pro (4,1 > 5,1 hex running 4k monitor, look into the firmware/CPU upgrade!) that has had the internal Bluetooth disconnected. I get Bluetooth at the desk from a dongle plugged into my wired keyboard, right next to the mouse, so reception is perfect. You could easily plug the dongle into any nearby USB port, on a display for instance.

The Bluetooth 4.0 dongle I purchased, which is working great, is:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZT2AXE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cost: $11.00 with minimal hassle. Disconnecting the internal is a cinch.

That is the kind of reply I was hoping for!
