Whatever happened to that being a feature of ios4? Anyone know of any apps that allow you to do in app sms, if any at all, and how it works?

The in-app sms API, isn't if you receive an sms while your in an app and can respond to it without going into the messages app, its if you want to send an sms to someone with the data from the app.

For example, the app FlighTrack Pro has the in-app sms feature in it, but what is does is it gives you an option to either email flight info or sms it to someone.

Sounds pretty useless, I was expecting the option to reply to texts within an app.

But that's exactly what "multitasking" is for, no?

In-app SMS works the same way as in-app email: you can compose and send a message of either sort without leaving an app, and that's pretty much it.

Multitasking is great, but I was expecting something along the lines of this.

Because constantly switching is kind of annoying to reply to a message, but to each their own.
