I hadn't realized Jaybird had a new in-ear on the market. Those look NICE. I used my freedoms on a daily. Only drawbacks are call quality, and it affected the other person, not me. I had to stop using them when I got my i5. the bluetooth sync button got destroyed at some-point, and they are locked to my sons i4.

Anybody got hands-on with the bluebuds X?

what are the new ones called?

The new(er) Jaybird in-ear headphones are the aforementioned BlueBuds X.

I have no experience with these.

They are the successor to the Freedom.

I currently own the Freedoms. Had them for about two years.

Pros: Nice sound. Bluetooth. Snug and comfortable.

Cons: Bluetooth partner must be worn on the right bicep. No in-call noise canceling; whoever you talk to may report bad voice audio.

hmm they are very expensive....
these are workout earphones tbh and for the price i would want to use them with my htc one as my earphones to use out and about
are they good for listening to music when travelling etc..

yea, they are a bit pricey. IMO, they're worth it in the long run.

The audio is real nice for casual listening, I just wouldn't take a call on them. I haven't experienced any discomfort with extended wear either. They come with interchangeable ear pieces and this little piece that holds them in place.

I'm sure there are headphones with better sound quality for less $$, but they wont be as good for any type of workout, and likely not bluetooth. I'll never buy a non-jaybird headphone again.

I was reading on Amazon people had trouble with them and they broke easily?

Also why wouldn't you take a call on them?

The mic has no noise canceling. You wont notice anything, but whoever is on the other end of the line might have a hard time hearing you.

oh okay so i guess when your phone rings you just turn the bluebirds off and just use your phone normally....

Had this dilemma a few weeks ago. I ran to a local best buy and picked up a pair of Sol Republic Jax for $40. I use them every time I go to the gym now and they stay in my ears even when I run! I was impressed. Just my 2 cents! good luck!

I've always had good luck with the Sennheiser 300s... they're earbuds, they hold up well, they're cheap, and the sound is phenomenal.

Lots of options though as it really depends on what your personal taste is for fit and sound quality.

Yea, I've read/watched all the reviews. I just like to crowd source my info as much as possible. seems a bit more believable. Thanks though man.

Also, because I'm an idiot, my freedoms are not broken, and I just don't know how to sync them.

Still looking at those Bluebuds.....

BlueBud X vs. Freedom

Is there a big performance difference? I own the freedoms, and don't really have a reason to upgrade, but I'm thinking about it anyway.

Is it purely size? or is there a noticeable audio boost as well? are the Bluebuds more comfortable/snug?

I didn’t have a reason to upgrade either but I wanted the new ones. I liked the new feature of them being tied behind my head rather than the cable behind my neck, either way it’s wireless and being behind me neither never got in the way.

The Freedoms were very good, I liked them though I didn’t like how big they were. At the time it didn’t bother me because again they were wireless. I had huge BT connecting issues. 95% of the use on the freedoms were at the gym and I usually left my phone either under the bench so the weights won’t hit it. I could not get up and walk about 7-8ft without losing connection. Sketchy connection when I’m sitting doing an exercise on the bench and the phone is under the bench (maybe 2ft away)? They sounded nice, call quality was not good though I never used it to call anyone. Only some phone calls I needed to answer while at the gym. I ran with them a handful of times and just holding the phone in my right hand caused skipping and bad connection. I felt I needed to keep it on my arm no matter what and didn’t want an arm band. Good “wireless” headphones but bad connection on my pair.

I got the Bluebuds X the day they were available, I got the white ones. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these. BT connection is no issue, I haven’t had any problems connecting actually. I can walk a good distance away from my iP5 at the gym and still hear the music perfect. Audio is very good, and they still use the same “wings” as the freedoms did. You have 2 different options of wearing them under or over the ear. These headphones paired with Comply foam tips = best/comfy pair ever! No gym noise, nice tight feel. see the attached picture of the combo.

I actually got them for FREE!! I originally bought them for full price. They had a very simple, pretty much a steal facebook contest which they’ve since changed their contest. When I got the bluebuds x in the mail, they came with a sticker. The sticker was a facebook contest on showing off the sticker, tag JayBird and myself on it and JayBird will pick a daily winner. I was the only one who posted something and won a free paid of JayBird headphones of my choice. I picked the white Bluebuds x! I returned my pair because I had just got them a few days prior. Got my money back and got a free pair of JayBirds! It was pretty much a steal! They still have daily winners on their website.

No, you can answer your phone with the headphones. Not sure what FUD you've been getting into. The freedoms were good, I kept my phone in my pocket when wearing them normally and only had occasional cut out when I was wearing my backpack. Other wise I never really had cut out issues.

Thank you so much for the write up. EXACTLY what I was looking for. I've had the same BT connectivity issues with the freedoms, so I doubt it was your pair. Might have to get the BlueBuds.

I buy the earbudi clips. They're over the ear hooks that attach to apple earbuds and prevent then from falling out.

how did you find the fitting> alot of people had issues with the earbuds and getting them to fit right into your ear
mine fit good, with the foam tips from Comply they shape to the inside of your ear. the wing tips help also.

Do you mind giving me a link for those foam tips ?

are the bluebird x's really worth it?

the fact i may have to buy extra tips is putting me off

IMO, they are. you can always return them if you don't feel they're for you. no wires alone is a plus. they're great for the gym for me.

you don't HAVE to buy separate tips, though they are pretty cheap for what I feel like they are worth more. I hear no outside noise with these tips, comfortable feel to me and will never wear silicone tips again. Foam tips for my ears.

You can find them at Radio Shack or Target if you have one in your area. Though they only carry the basic black color. I stumbled upon them early last year at Radio Shack for my freedoms and now have the blue's for my bluebuds x.
